Yellow juxtaposes people’s desire to have their image immortalised, expressing success and status through portraits and busts, with their justification of concealed flaws and dishonesties. By moulding his own face, the artist created a life-size self-portrait which is then disfigured by yellow paint, thus ridiculing the sombre statue and opening up questions about the artist’s motivation.

Yellow was performed at ‘Contingency’, Changing Spaces, Cambridge.
